CMPT 2019

The Department of Mineral Engineering, GCE in association with IIME, Student Chapter organized the National Conference on “Coal & Mineral Processing Technology(CMPT) to deliberate, discuss and draw the attention of the industry and Research Institutes/Academia on the recent advances in the field of Mineral Beneficiation, Coal Washing and allied areas.

There has been so much going on in the mining industry lately. Being in this field myself, I need to keep up with the latest. This conference was a highly informative one and thus was thoroughly engrossing for me.

Odisha is a mineral rich state with a large deposit of Coal, Iron ore, Limestone, Bauxite, Manganese ore, Graphite, beach sand minerals, Chromite etc. The deposit of high-grade Iron ore, Coal and other minerals are gradually diminishing on one side and on the other side there is huge demand of coal, steel, and other metals due to massive industrial and infrastructural development.

Hence beneficiation of low-grade ore to high grade is the only alternative. Beneficiation also reduces the extent of environmental damage lowering the need for the additional dumping area, zero waste mining and reduces the transportation cost of ore from pit to port.

Department of Mineral Engineering, Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar in collaboration with Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) Keonjhar Chapter is organising a national conference on “Coal and Mineral processing Technology (CMPT’19)” to bring together the people from the industries, academicians, researchers and scientists to a common platform to share their experiences and suggest the best practices for coal and mineral processing technology. The organizing committee cordially invites you to the event to make it highly productive with your presentations and suggestions.
